I am an Orton-Gillingham reading tutor. I specialize in struggling readers, dyslexia, and Down syndrome. Your child *does not need a diagnosis* to work with me. I administer informal assessments to look at strengths and weaknesses with spelling, reading, and comprehension. I tutor out of my home on the Eastside of Greenville near Hwy 14 and Pelham Rd convenient to Simpsonville and Greer. I am accepting students for the summer. My rates are competitive. If you have a struggling reader I would love to talk.
Come to my table to try your skills with phonics, rhyming, and memory matching games. Sign my contact list and enter the drawing a free student assessment and parent phone conference ($75 value).
What are the benefits of Orton-Gillingham Tutoring?
The Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching language and literacy is based on nearly 100 years of research on learning differences, how the brain learns, and the logical, sequential building blocks of language. Lessons are structured, sequential, and multi-sensory to engage the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic/tactile pathways of learning. Each lesson is diagnostic, the tutor is looking for patterns of difficulties and ways for your student to overcome them. Each lesson is prescriptive, that means it is customized to your student’s current level of knowledge and incorporates their next step for target knowledge. Each lesson is individualized, the phonograms, words for review, and new information are carefully chosen to reinforce and challenge your student to move as quickly as possible and as slowly as necessary through the curriculum to build a strong literacy foundation.
